Tour Details

This combined ticket offers entry to two well-known Amsterdam experiences: Keukenhof Gardens and the Heineken Experience, allowing visitors to enjoy a day filled with both natural beauty and Dutch brewing heritage. The tour begins with a visit to Keukenhof, located approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Amsterdam in Lisse. Here, guests wander through sprawling gardens featuring millions of blooming tulips and other spring flowers arranged in intricate patterns and themed displays. After savoring the colors and scents of Keukenhof, the itinerary moves back toward the city center for the Heineken Experience, a self-guided interactive journey through the former Heineken brewery that reveals the brewing process, the company's history, and the art of beer tasting.

Included in the Heineken Experience are two drinks, giving visitors a chance to sample freshly brewed Heineken beers in a lively setting. At Keukenhof, visitors will find themselves surrounded by vast fields of tulips in reds, yellows, purples, and whites, punctuated by carefully maintained flower beds, water features, and sculptures. Seasonal flower shows inside the pavilions display hyacinths, daffodils, and orchids, filling the air with sweet floral fragrances. The garden paths lead past traditional Dutch windmills and offer photo opportunities framed by colorful blooms and clear blue skies.

Later, the Heineken Experience guides visitors through the brewery’s copper vats, interactive exhibits that include historic advertising posters, and multimedia presentations that detail the fermentation process. The tasting rooms provide a sensory contrast—the crisp, refreshing scent of beer and the lively chatter of fellow visitors create an atmosphere that echoes Amsterdam's social drinking culture. This combination ticket is designed for flexibility and convenience, allowing guests to visit Keukenhof at their own pace before heading to the Heineken Experience later in the day. Transportation between Amsterdam and Keukenhof is typically arranged by the visitor independently, with options including bus tours or rental bikes for the adventurous.

The Heineken Experience is located in central Amsterdam, easily reachable by tram or on foot from major hotels. The Heineken Experience is self-guided, allowing visitors to spend as much time as they wish at each exhibit, while Keukenhof is a large outdoor garden requiring comfortable walking shoes. Group sizes vary as this is not a guided tour, but audio guides or mobile apps can enhance the experience. This combined ticket suits those who appreciate both horticulture and beer culture, perhaps travelers who want to see the well-known Dutch tulip fields while also experiencing one of Amsterdam’s most famous brands from the inside.

It is ideal for visitors who prefer a flexible schedule rather than a tightly guided tour, and who want to balance outdoor activity with an indoor, interactive museum environment. Families, couples, and solo travelers who enjoy moderate walking and cultural experiences will find this combination rewarding, especially in the spring when Keukenhof is at full bloom.

What Makes This Tour Special

This combination ticket allows visitors to experience two contrasting yet complementary aspects of Dutch culture in one day—nature’s spectacle at Keukenhof and the craftsmanship and legacy of brewing at Heineken. The inclusion of two drinks at the Heineken Experience adds a sensory dimension that enhances the visit.
  • Access to Keukenhof, one of the world’s largest flower gardens during peak bloom season.
  • Self-paced interactive visit to the historic Heineken brewery with included beer tastings.
  • Convenient combined ticket reducing the need to purchase separate entries.
  • Chance to experience both rural and urban Dutch culture in a single day.

Historical Background

Keukenhof has roots dating back to the 15th century when the grounds served as a hunting estate for the nobility, evolving into a major floral exhibition site since 1949. The Heineken brewery was established in Amsterdam in 1864 and grew into one of the largest beer producers worldwide, with its former brewery now serving as a museum chronicling the company’s development and impact on Dutch industry.
